BOLTS
Using the correct size tool and make sure it is fully seated in the bolt before applying force. This will keep the bolt head from becoming prematurely stripped.
Always check your bolts for proper tightness. If you don't you could strip threads, lose a bolt, a wheel, and maybe some skin!
Before replacing the bolts in your skates rub a thin film of grease or heavy oil on the threads and seating surfaces. This will ease bolt removal for your next rotation.
BEARINGS
Remove and discard one seal from each bearing to facilitate cleaning and relubing. When reseating the bearings in the hub of the wheel place the remaining seal to the outside. This will protect the inside of each bearing.
Your bearings will last longer and run more smoothly if you wash them with a good degreaser to remove all road grit.
Use a bearing lube that is designed specifically for skate bearings such as Tiodize' Speed Skate Lube.
